Purcell’s entertaining masque written to accompany Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ is truly inspirational and one of the most exciting pieces to have come from any composer’s pen. It formed the opening work of the first Crickhowell Music Festival 25 years ago and we are delighted to welcome back the now award-winning producer, Thomas Guthrie, to direct this year’s dramatised performance. This will be given some extra zing by the addition of actors and dancers from the local High School who will have trained with professionals in a series of workshops as part of our educational outreach.

Expect much magical music, fairy frolics and, most importantly, some incredible solo singing from some of the top experts in this field. Definitely Shakespeare on steroids!
