with Brecknock Sinfonia

Brecon Cathedral, Brecon, LD3 9DP

Saturday 25th November 2017, 7.30pm

A new collaborative venture between Crickhowell Choral and the Brecknock Sinfonia results in this bumper concert of great choral music.

Haydn’s ebullient Te Deum, written for the Empress Maria Theresa, kickstarts a programme of wonderful variety and colour.

Dvorak’s Mass in D deserves to be better known. It is a crystallisation of the composer’s style, full of sweeping tunes and many emotional climaxes for both singers and orchestra. In contrast, a thrilling sequence of rousing and celebratory choruses from Handel’s grand oratorio Israel in Egypt should give everyone something to sing about.

The programme includes:

  • Mass in D by Dvorak
  • Te Deum by Haydn
  • Choruses from Israel in Egypt by Handel
